0:00 Welcome to ANI In the Air, Under the Tent and Around Baltimore, your daily podcast briefing
0:05 of all the goings ons, ins and arounds, arts and ideas, Sudbury School.
0:09 Today we're jamming out to some sounds from the workers working on this house.
0:15 They've been working on it for like five years.
0:18 It's pretty epic.
0:20 But today I'm happy to announce that we are under the tent again.
0:25 We raised the tent over the weekend on Saturday.
0:28 It was a beautiful day.
0:30 Lots of people came out for sledge hammering and ratcheting and lifting and moving.
0:37 So we are now under a beautiful, beautiful tent again.
0:43 There's some tennis ball throwing going on underneath the tent right now.
0:49 And there was some gaga ball playing earlier and some other, I think there was a lot of
0:54 tennis balls or frisbee stuff earlier in the day.
0:58 Lots of stuff happening outside.
1:00 We had our announcements in the parking lot and then afterwards we all moved the stuff
1:09 under the tent.
1:10 We moved this big table and then also all the chairs and we also started to lay some
1:16 mulch on the muddy areas to try and deal with that.
1:21 So that's all cool.
1:24 Tomorrow for school meeting we expect to have quite a number of items on the agenda.
1:29 So that would be a really great school meeting to attend and see what's going on.
1:34 I want to change a few things here and there and yeah, it could be exciting.
1:40 Let's see, I don't know, probably a whole bunch of other things which I am, oh, we also
1:47 had our assembly meeting on Friday night in which we pass updates to our medical policy
1:53 basically pointing to the CDC guidelines.
1:56 All right, we also have a visiting student this week and we plan to have a couple of
2:02 visiting students for each of the next few weeks.
2:06 So things are looking pretty good in that respect.
2:11 All right, so for Millions Monday I thought I'd be inspired by the tent.
2:17 Just how much weight are we talking about?
2:19 Well, the tent is an area of approximately 30 by 50, so 30 square feet by 50 square feet.
2:27 Now I don't know exactly how heavy one square foot of the fabric is, but if it was one pound
2:39 and you know, it's fairly heavy weight fabric, so I don't know, could be, then that would
2:44 be 150 pounds for the tent covering.
2:49 The other heavy items, well, let's see, there's 24 ratchets, no, is that right, 24?
2:58 I think so.
3:01 And you know, they're pretty hefty, so I don't know, let's say a pound for a ratchet, so
3:09 that's 24 pounds.
3:11 And then there's the poles, we've got, I guess 20 poles, let's say each, well, plus the center
3:21 poles.
3:22 Let's see, each of those might be say five pounds, so maybe a hundred pounds there, so
3:32 what are we up to, 250, 275.
3:38 And then there's the rebar, each one is a little bit heavy.
3:41 Let's say, I don't know how long they are, they might be like three feet, and let's say,
3:50 I don't know, two inches, well, maybe three inches is a pound, let's say, three inches
3:54 is a pound.
3:56 And so with 12, yeah, 12 inches and a foot and three feet, then that would be 12 pounds
4:09 rebar.
4:10 So holding two in each hand, or is it one in each hand, I think I was doing two in each
4:18 hand, yeah, so that would be 20 some pounds in each hand, which sounds about right, they
4:26 were heavy but not undoable.
4:30 So again, there's 24 rebars, 12 pounds, so 12 times 12 is 144, and 10 times 2, 248, did
4:42 I do that right, 24 times, let's just say 10 pounds each rebar, 240 pounds, really?
4:50 Wow, okay, so they're quite heavy.
4:53 So yeah, we're talking the whole thing in total being perhaps, yeah, like 400 pounds,
5:02 400 or 500 pounds, so yeah, that's the weight we just moved.
5:08 So that was fun.
5:10 The tent cover we actually wheel out, and that was pretty heavy to do too.
5:16 Then yeah, carried up all the rebar and the ratchets and the poles, and over to the tent
5:22 thing.
5:23 So all right.
5:24 Oh, and there's also the fire extinguisher, we have to have a fire extinguisher because,
5:28 you know, tents, outdoors, fire, I guess.
5:32 Anyway, we have that and no smoking signs.
5:35 I guess they must have had some tents that went up in flames, I suppose it must have
5:40 happened somewhere.
5:41 All right, well, that'll be all for today, have a good one, and I will see you when I
5:46 see you.
