0:00 Welcome to ANI in the air, under the sky, by the fire, and around Baltimore.
0:05 This is your daily podcast briefing of all the goings ons, ins, and rounds of
0:09 Artemisia Sudbury School. So today was a beautiful day. I missed a couple hours
0:19 here because I was getting my second vaccine shot. I'm feeling okay so far but
0:28 I'm told it's gonna be a rough couple days. So I guess I'm not really looking
0:33 forward to that but you know it's kind of nice to have an excuse to just hide
0:38 under the covers for a couple days. Anyway today was an absolutely gorgeous
0:44 temperature day in the spirit of farewell Friday. Well it was a great week
0:52 of weather, at least eventually a great week with the weather. I think it was
0:56 still like freezing on Monday but now it's like perfect. But guess what next
1:03 week it'll be colder so we will have hopefully fires next week. We also have a
1:10 couple of visiting students next week and a couple of new students enrolling.
1:16 Well one's a reenroller we'll see about that on Monday and the other one was
1:23 someone who did a visiting week in the fall and then kind of like said not to
1:29 enroll until after the cold weather months and you know so it can be outside
1:33 all that good stuff. Something we totally understand and respect this year. Most
1:38 years we'd be like right but this year oh yeah it's totally cool. So looking
1:44 forward to all that next week. Today we had an art corporation meeting and a
1:50 camping trip meeting. I have no idea how either of those things went since I
1:54 wasn't part of it. I was running JC at one it was late because I was having
1:58 that vaccine shot earlier but you know we're we're doing well. You know the JC
2:05 is much tougher this year because of having a hard time hearing people. We're
2:09 all very distanced and got traffic going on well we're outside of course and so
2:17 yeah it's been difficult but we're making through cases are going okay. We
2:26 don't have a lot of cases. I don't know if it's because of the oddness of JC or
2:33 just the fact that we have such less full capacity that people aren't bumping
2:38 into each other as much. But yeah there it is. What else? Oh we also got delivery
2:55 today of our much bigger drill in stakes for the tent. So hopefully we'll be able
3:03 to make progress on putting up the tent. Probably not next week because it's cold
3:09 but maybe soon after because yeah once the weather seems reasonably nice that
3:16 we want to have a shade cover that's what we'll do. We may relocate the tent
3:21 we need to talk about that. The tent in the corner was nice in the sense that it
3:27 stayed out of the way of people using the field otherwise but there was also
3:33 a lot harder to slog out there. Internet connections was a bit weaker and yeah I
3:45 mean it was a wet slog when it was raining. Also there's once the
3:51 leaves come in there tends to be quite a bit of shade actually over there anyway
3:57 so there's that question too. We're actually kind of enjoying having this
4:02 parking lot all to ourselves during the day. The chairs get scattered to the four
4:08 winds. Probably next week I'll move another stack of them out because yeah
4:16 people love taking them all over the field and studying them and that's just
4:20 great. Whole other life for chairs. Oh yeah so this is farewell Friday it's
4:27 been a great week. I'll say this in announcements next week but it's been a
4:32 year since we shut down. We shut down on Friday the 13th in March of 2020. It was our
4:40 last day in person of the 2019-2020 school year so we're going up on that
4:47 anniversary tomorrow and what a year it's been. We all survived it so that was
4:54 good I mean us here. Many people didn't survive of course and it's a sadness.
5:03 Many of us have lost somebody we cared about one way or another and well that's
5:11 been rough but we are here together. Arts and Ideas community has held strong and
5:20 we're all grateful for that. It's been it's been really wonderful so farewell
5:26 to that pandemic year and hello to a much more normal year to come.
5:32 Yeah and just for those who were curious we also shut down on Friday the 13th in
5:37 November so I'm thinking Friday the 13th isn't the luckiest date for us or maybe
5:43 it is lucky that we made it to that point in time I don't know but anyway
5:48 you have a good one enjoy Saturday the 13th on which we are not open but we
5:54 will be open on Monday so you all have a good time this weekend see all next week
6:01 and I'll see you when I see you.
