Welcome to ANI in the Air, Online and Around Baltimore, your daily podcast briefing of
0:06
all the goings ons in and around arts and ideas at Bay School.
0:10
So today is day two of our fully online, I made a talk about Tuesday podcast about community
0:19
trying to suggest that, you know, we all make efforts to take and connect it with other
0:25
people.
0:26
It's not the only way to be, but it's a good goal if one can manage it.
0:35
So what happened today?
0:36
Well, today was Tuesday, so we have our school meeting and just had one item on the agenda.
0:44
It was from Caroline and it was basically getting approval to have students hang out
0:55
on the field while generally Caroline would be hanging around the building outside.
1:05
So that'll be happening tomorrow from noon to 2.30, hopefully it goes well.
1:13
The basic rules are stay outside and if you need to use the bathroom, the carriage house
1:17
bathroom will be open, but otherwise, and there's some medical necessity, of course,
1:25
but otherwise, you know, it's for outdoor play.
1:28
It'll be cold, but a lot of kids don't care about that.
1:33
There was an email sent out about it, so hopefully everybody knows.
1:42
Let's see, what else?
1:43
There was a Minecraft Java edition gathering today, so for those not in the know, Minecraft
1:52
comes in two different flavors, Bedrock and Java.
1:56
Java is I think the older one and is the one that's kind of on desktops more so, and Bedrock
2:06
is the thing that's like on tablets.
2:09
Why these things are separate, I do not know.
2:13
But they are, and so people with tablets need the one and people with desktops need the
2:20
other.
2:21
There might also be some variations in what can be done in those, I don't know.
2:25
I don't play Minecraft, but I just hear about it.
2:27
Well, in any event, hopefully everyone who was interested in these things has had a go
2:33
at it, and hopefully this can be a regular thing.
2:40
There's also some creative writing stuff happening going on.
2:45
Be sure to check out the creative writing channel on Discord to see people writing about,
2:52
I guess, writing.
2:54
And yeah, what else?
3:01
So I made it up to five minutes of my laughing today of, I go to the Contemplation Voice
3:08
channel at 1.50 and I laugh for five minutes.
3:13
It's a really good exercise for the core muscles.
3:17
It's fun.
3:20
It's a big hoot.
3:22
What else?
3:23
The tomorrow at two and then again on Friday at two if things go well, I plan to host a
3:31
role playing game session using a system called Dungeon World.
3:37
It's kind of like D&D, Dungeons and Dragons, but a little bit lighter on the rules and
3:44
a bit more freedom to the players to really describe what they're doing and also participate
3:50
in building the world.
3:52
So I haven't played it.
3:54
I have watched some podcasts about it or listened to podcasts, I guess.
4:00
Although I did watch some YouTube videos of it being played as well.
4:07
And it looks fun.
4:08
I hope I can do a good job running it and then everybody has some fun.
4:14
Biggest concern for me right now is just how to handle the character sheets.
4:19
But I guess we'll figure that out tomorrow.
4:23
Then on Thursday at 10, I hope to have a session of Amazing Tales if anybody shows up for it.
4:31
This is mainly probably for younger kids.
4:34
It's much more just like making stuff up, but with a little bit of structure and some
4:39
dice rolling.
4:41
So it's kind of a good sort of, you know, starting point for role playing and it can
4:47
be fun when it's completely in one's imagination, you know, it's like, you know, it's me sort
4:57
of a lack of constraint.
4:59
So it's nice when there's a little bit of constraint, but, you know, it's also great
5:05
to be able to run your imagination quite wildly.
5:11
So yeah, I think that's a bit of what's going on.
5:19
So hopefully all that is cool and I guess that's about it.
5:24
Again, check out, talk about Tuesday topic on community if you're interested in what
5:29
I have to say about that and have a good one.
5:33
Bye bye.
