0:00 Welcome to Arts and Ideas in the air under the tent and around Baltimore, your daily podcast briefing of all the goings ons at Arts and Ideas Sudbury School.
0:09 So today we had three cases in JC, two of which ended up being dropped, and the third, a chicken case.
0:20 Had a lot of discussion about exactly what state our rules are about the chickens, so that was kind of an interesting question.
0:30 It also came up that whether our peaceably exists rule applies to chickens, mainly letting them make sure their peaceably exists.
0:42 The team went along with it because it seemed, well, half the team said yes, the other half was unsure.
0:52 But, you know, it was kind of like, well, we don't want the chickens to be disturbed.
0:58 That's the closest thing we got right now, so we use it.
1:01 But we'll probably fix that rule up.
1:06 We also need to kind of figure out all about who can interact with the chickens under what circumstances.
1:13 Our original thing years ago was being a member of Animal Corporation, but we haven't really had the need to have that corporation around so much because chickens just do their things.
1:26 And so we'll have to figure that out.
1:30 So hopefully next week we'll get all that straightened out in our rule book and we can make sure that chickens are living happy, peaceful lives, and we have rules to back them up on that.
1:41 Because, you know, they like to come to JC too. Maybe we could bring them to JC. That'd be interesting.
1:48 Anyway, we also had the 8 to 11 year old chicken today. That was fun. It was actually pretty short.
1:56 They're kind of a very much empowered age group, so it was fun to hear.
2:02 They said that they were excited to be back at school.
2:05 They had a little bit of, you know, wondering and confusion about the pandemic when we came back.
2:13 But, you know, they've all settled in and, you know, they're looking forward to a great year.
2:18 So that was a fun time.
2:21 Next week is our final check-in meeting, the 5 to 7 year olds, which will no doubt be a very energetic group.
2:30 So that's exciting.
2:32 Right now, or perhaps it's done, I do not know, is the history discussion about Woodrow Wilson and bicycle racing.
2:45 So I'm sure that was a lot of fun.
2:49 There'll be no Article Club on Friday because we are off on Friday.
2:54 And so tomorrow will be the last podcast of the week, last day of the week for us.
3:00 And then we'll all be back on Monday.
3:04 So that's kind of the cool stuff.
3:06 I'm under the small tent today because some people are watching some stuff under the big tent.
3:14 And, well, you know, I enjoy doing a podcast from a more quiet location.
3:24 I don't know if you can hear the tent. It loves to rustle in the wind.
3:27 It's a really great sound area for wind rustling.
3:31 That's exciting.
3:33 We also have our Octospider, Octo the Spider, coming back.
3:38 It disappeared for a day or two, but came back, built a new web, looking bulkier than ever.
3:50 Seems to really like that location in between the strap and the pole and the tent.
3:54 So that's kind of cool.
3:58 We also have two squirrels that have been named Kevin and Tootsie, I believe.
4:06 So that's exciting.
4:08 They are, well, they're quite entertaining, let's just say that.
4:16 Lots of running around today, lots of swinging, all that good stuff.
4:21 And, yeah, pretty nice day.
4:28 Ashley was out today, so we all felt her absence, but hopefully she'll be back tomorrow or at least next week.
4:38 So, that was all good.
4:44 And, yeah, I guess that's about all that happened today that I know of.
4:54 Well, I mean, lots of other stuff happened.
4:58 There's a sort of a tile-hopping game that I see people playing.
5:03 I'm not entirely sure what the rules are, but that was certainly going on today, so that's always fun.
5:10 And I think I'm just rambling, so I'm going to sign off.
5:14 I did do a Wondrous Wednesday, which was also rather long, but that was on the relativity of simultaneity.
5:23 What is happening right now?
5:26 That's the question.
5:28 And the question answer depends on how you're moving.
5:32 So, you can go listen to that if you're curious.
5:36 Basically, is there a now, and relativity says no.
5:41 There's a now for you, there's a now for me, but there's no now now.
