0:00 Alright, welcome to Arts and Ideas in the Air, Under the Tent, and Around Baltimore.
0:07 Your daily briefing of all the goings-ons around arts and ideas. So today
0:14 was another great day. Unfortunately I had a rather lengthy staff meeting in
0:20 the library, socially distanced and talking to our online staff as well.
0:25 Wonderful location, but not under the tent. The tent is lovely, wonderful weather.
0:32 Looks a little cloudy today, anticipation of some rain later tonight. Want to point
0:39 out a few cool things going on around here. We've got a whole new way of using
0:46 and abusing those rolling blue chairs. We had the chairs, had a chair out in front
0:53 of the door, parking lot door, and what do you know, we had a ramp right there. So
0:59 rolling down those ramps. It's pretty amazing to particularly see the little
1:04 ones pushing the chair back up just to go rolling right back down. Kind of
1:07 reminds me of good old Sisyphus back in the day. The gaga pit is being used right
1:15 now, not for gaga, but you know, climbing over walls and stuff. At least until
1:20 Caroline gets a sight of it. And also seemed to have a rather sizable group
1:30 under the tent doing some sign language activities. So that's pretty cool. Had a
1:36 good JC day over some resource conflicts. In particular the one thing that needs
1:43 to be addressed is the computers and we're having that work out. I haven't
1:48 quite yet made the system for assigning them for the day but we'll try that out.
1:52 So far you know most of the computers are not being used but there are three
2:00 in the JC room that are heavily desired and so that's been a little bit of a
2:04 conflict there. We love conflicts around here and we love having our JC system.
2:08 This is the first day for Declan to be JC clerking and those are a really good
2:15 JC despite there was a grass mower going on right behind us, people spread out of
2:21 course socially. So you know it can be a little challenging but Declan did a
2:26 really great job on that. Right now to the side is, you might hear it in the
2:31 background, some drywall delivery to our neighbor who's redoing that house. You
2:38 might have seen over the past year or two or three or so. So that's moving
2:43 right along so that's pretty cool. Tomorrow we will have article club that
2:52 is I believe at 11 and should be mentioned in discord. It's on the article
3:00 building peace narrative I believe by Charles Eisenstein, the father of Philip
3:06 Eisenstein, a student here who is on campus. I was watching a talk that Charles
3:12 gave a year ago online that was pretty good. So if you don't want to read it you
3:19 could go take a look at it. If I had show notes I'd put it in the show notes and I
3:24 don't have show notes. So I'll talk to my producer, me, about it. Let's see what
3:31 else. I also witnessed a nice game of hide-and-seek which is a little bit of a
3:39 challenge on an open, easily seeable field but a few of the younger ones gave it a
3:46 great go. So yeah that's another day, another week. So this is tipping Thursday
3:54 where I try to come up with a tip of the week. So if you find yourself in the
3:59 middle of a pandemic and you have to do coin operated laundry, just hypothetical
4:05 here, and all the coins are no longer in circulation for whatever reason
4:12 like things aren't even giving out quarters anymore. Well I've got just a
4:16 tip for you. You can do your laundry in a bucket. You need a stick with a plunger
4:22 like thing on the end, kind of an agitator, got kind of a webbing and you
4:28 just kind of plunge up and down in the water, put some soap on the water, plunge
4:32 plunge plunge, get rid of that water, put in some fresh water, plunge plunge plunge
4:37 and voila you're good. Now you're also gonna probably want some kind of spin
4:40 dryer to spin all that water out. It's still not gonna be dry when it's done
4:45 because there's no heat but it'll be not dripping and now you can hang it up and
4:49 you've got fresh laundry. You could use this to have just one outfit that you
4:54 wear over and over again which I think is pretty cool. Not quite there yet but
4:59 you know I just did some shirts and stuff yesterday and even a pair of jeans
5:08 and worked out beautiful. All right so that is tipping Thursday. You all have a
5:15 great time and see you all tomorrow.
